More on the University of Oviedo’s Historic Building
The conference will take place in the University of Oviedo’s Historic Building on San Francisco Street, on the fringe between the city’s old and modern quarters. The building was erected between 1574 and 1608 to accommodate the university – founded posthumously by Inquisitor General Fernando de Valdés Salas (1483-1568), whose statue presides over the inner courtyard.
The venue is close to the Asturian parliament building and Uría Street, the city’s main thoroughfare. It is also within close walking distance of Oviedo’s main historic and artistic landmarks including the Cathedral, Town Hall and Fontán Market, as well as the shopping hubs of Palacio Valdés Street and the ‘Cider Boulevard’ on Gascona Street.
