The 2017 international symposium will include lectures, round table discussions and poetry readings. There will be talks, discussion panel and poster sessions on historical and contemporary themes, illness and poetry, poetry as therapy, poetry in the education of health professionals, and poetry as an aid to health professionals.

The 2017 International Poetry and Medicine Symposium and Hippocrates Awards Ceremony will be held on Saturday 6th May 2017 at Harvard Medical School, organised by the Hippocrates Initiative in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Initiative of Harvard Medical School.
The winners and commended entrants in the 2017 Hipocrates Prize will be announced by the judges at the end of the Saturday 6th May Symposium.
There will be a pre-Symposium Poetry Workshop at the Boston Museum of Fine Art on the evening of Friday 5th May 2017.
